Kamppi
Our children and teachers come from all over the world, creating a rich international and multicultural atmosphere. At Kamppi, we wish to create a safe environment where children can play and learn, be creative and inspired, take risks, allow themselves to make mistakes, laugh and face disappointments. Children are offered opportunities to practice their skills in co-operation, trying new experiences and taking on responsibilities. We value independence and inter-dependence, respecting ourselves and others, we celebrate diversity and we strive to promote a strong environmental awareness. As the children grow older, we focus on school readiness. Our teachers work together towards creating a unified group so that children and their families can ‘feel at home’ when at the kindergarten. We follow the guidelines for the Finnish National Core Curriculum for Early Childhood Education and Care as well as the City of Helsinki Curriculum for Early Childhood and Preschool Education.
Our Kamppi kindergarten is conveniently located near tram lines 6, 7, 8, 9 and the Ruoholahti and Kamppi Metro stations. Köydenpunojanpuisto and Työmiehenpuistikko parks are within a 3-minute walking distance. Children spend time at the nearby parks twice a day and additional outdoor activities such as physical education sessions, nature walks or outdoor games are planned weekly.

Our groups
Nemos
The first kindergarten year is about building friendships, having fun and learning kindergarten routines, basic language, literacy and numeracy skills through arts and play.
Pearls
The Pearl year is about developing our friendship and language skills through play and guided activities. We are more advanced with our motor-skills and begin to refine these through various types of arts, crafts and movements.
Crocodiles
The Crocodile year is when we begin to put more difficult concepts together, such as pre-reading, writing and numeracy skills. We learn how to play independently as well as in small and large groups, whilst all the time building our friendships, self-confidence and helpfulness towards others.
Sharks
We are an accredited part of the Helsinki city pre-school system.
The Pre-school year is about gradually becoming more independent, self-confident and effective learners. When it is time to go off to primary school, the most important things we can take with us are the ability to focus, stay on task, be creative, co-operate with others and follow given instructions, the ability to take care of ourselves, the confidence to try new things and make new friends.
